Frequently Asked Questions

Managing a credit card is one way for you to build or rebuild your credit and improve your credit score. To help build good credit, use credit cards regularly and make all your payments on time. You’ll also want to keep an eye on what’s called credit utilization. Credit utilization is the percentage of your total credit you're using. In general, you should aim to keep your utilization percentage low (under 30%) by using a small portion of your card's credit limit.

Secured credit cards are often a great place to start. A refundable security deposit3 is required to open your account. The PREMIER Bankcard Secured Credit Card can give you the opportunity to start your journey to building or rebuilding your credit right now vs having to wait until you’re eligible for the unsecured.

The program fee is a one-time payment to offset risk associated with your credit account. If you are approved, paying the full program fee opens your credit account and gives you access to your available funds as soon as your card arrives.

The annual fee is charged to your credit account yearly once the credit account is opened, and in about the same billing cycle of each following year. For example, if you’re assigned a credit limit of $300, you will see an annual fee on your statement of $75 the first year, and $49 for each following year.

PREMIER Bankcard believes in being transparent with you about our fees before you apply. Be aware that some companies may not be as transparent up front about their fees.

Yes, we do. We want to continue providing the opportunity for you to keep building your credit. Credit limit increases are available after 12 months of responsible use of your card.

Yes. We do charge a one-time Program Fee which needs to be paid to open the account. The Program Fee is assessed to offset the risk associated with the credit card account.

You can pay the Program Fee in full or with partial payments using a checking account, debit card, or credit card.

The Program Fee must be paid in full within 85 days from the date of approval to avoid application withdrawal.
