Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an Annual Fee and a Program Fee?

The program fee is a one-time payment to offset risk associated with your credit account. If you are approved, paying the full program fee opens your credit account and gives you access to your available funds as soon as your card arrives.

The annual fee is charged to your credit account yearly once the credit account is opened, and in about the same billing cycle of each following year. For example, if you’re assigned a credit limit of $300, you will see an annual fee on your statement of $75 the first year, and $49 for each following year.

How can a credit card help me build or rebuild credit?
Managing a credit card is one way for you to build or rebuild your credit and improve your credit score. To help build good credit, use credit cards regularly and make all your payments on time. You’ll also want to keep an eye on what’s called credit utilization. Credit utilization is the percentage of your total credit you're using. In general, you should aim to keep your utilization percentage low (under 30%) by using a small portion of your card's credit limit.
Does PREMIER Bankcard increase credit lines?
Yes, we do! We want to continue providing the opportunity for you to keep building your credit. Credit limit increases are available after 12 months of responsible use of your card.
What is a secured credit card?
The PREMIER Bankcard Secured Credit Card is secured which means it requires a refundable security deposit4 to open the account. Once you’ve been approved, you can use the card to make in-person or online purchases anywhere Mastercard is accepted—just like a traditional credit card. A secured credit card can help you establish, build, or rebuild your credit, because it allows you the opportunity to show the consumer reporting agencies that you can use credit responsibly.
